A Mom Owes $1.92 Million Fine For Illegal File Sharing?

She is a 32-year-old mother of four. She lives in Minnesota. She downloaded and shared 24 songs. And now, she owes $1.92 million ($1,920,000) for what she had done!

Can you believe it? The woman I'm talking about was Jammie Thomas-Rasset. Why does she need to pay the amount of $1.92 million?

According the news, the cost of every track illegally shared is $80,000. $80,000 multiplied by 24 (tracks) is equal to $1.92 million! Ouch, it hurts! Through this, Recording Industry Association of America or RIAA hopes that this case will convince people to stop downloading copyrighted music files.

Songs from Green Day, Janet Jackson, Godsmack and Richard Marx are found in Jammie's computer, illegally shared using Kazaa.

This is a warning for all of us. What should we do now? Simple. "Stop sharing copyrighted materials to avoid trouble!"
