I LOL at my post title. Obviously, I greeted myself. Hehehe. As I told you on my previous post about my blogging mistake, my Happy Anniversary article deserves to be discussed on a separate blog post. And here it is! I spent two consecutive days writing this one. Hehehe. (2 consecutive days but not 48 hours. Huh?!)
Honestly, I really don’t know how to start. I don’t know what I should say at this time. My mind is full of ideas that are certainly unreliable. I want to tell something but I cant tell it. Yay! Where should I begin? Will you still be interested to read this post if I am going to tell about my blogging experience during the past 12 months? Well, I hope so because that’s what I’m decided to do now.
Since I don’t have cash yet to sponsor a contest here on Rickspot, letting you know what happened to me on my first year in blogging is what I am going to do. (OK, stop beating around the bush!) And now, here is my blogging story.
Narrator: 1000 minus 999 years ago, in a very far away land of Batangas, there is a college student who is taking up BS Information Technology. He loves writing but unfortunately, writing hates him. (Eek!) Although he really doesn’t deserve to be, he became an editor-in-chief of their High School Filipino Newspaper.
As a part of being college, they need to work on their thesis. Their thesis is about mobile games. They need to create a game that can be played on cell phones, PSP, Nintendo DS, or any other mobile platform. On Jerick Mac’s case, they chose the cell phone. In short, they need to create a game for cell phone. The next part is to search for a tutorial site that will teach them how to start building it.
In their search, they stumbled on this site. It is owned by a programmer named Glen who is residing also here in Batangas. If you will notice, that is a blogspot blog. And that’s how it started.
So instead of putting his focus in their thesis, his 40% attention was directed to blogging. He registered his first ever blog on Blogger with the URL http://www.echovolution.blogspot.com. After several days, for an unknown reason, he deleted that blog. Several hours later, he tried to register that domain again but unfortunately, there is an error and it seems that using a different domain is the only solution. He registered a blog again but this time, he added the letter “z” on his previous domain name. Using the URL echovolutionz.blogspot.com, his first real blog is entitled “Echovolution’s Portfolio”.
During his first week, he was just posting anything until something entered his mind, he opened his Yahoo! Mail account, browsed the inbox and downloaded all forwarded messages. After compiling all interesting mails, he opened his blog, started posting and uploading all of them. He always talked about his blog to his classmates, inviting them to visit it. He even set his blog as the homepage of all browsers of all computers in his school! LOL! So cruel!
After several weeks again, with the purpose of writing about Batangas, he created “Batangas Online” at batangasonline.blogspot.com. Again, on the first month, he enjoyed writing news and opinions about the different sides of Batangas. He even takes pictures of innocently sleeping student.
Writing about Batangas lasted for only a month, I guess. You know, he doesn’t have ideas anymore! Hehehe. Yes, he stopped writing about it. Instead, he turned Batangas Online into a Google Trends blog.
Google Trends blog? What is that?
For him, it is a blog that is composed of topics that are commonly seen on the recent searches of Google Trends. Every recent topic that Americans searches for is a new article for him. Yay! Well, that is how he understands SEO. Ouch!
Later, he understood the importance of having a domain name. He wanted to buy his own domain name but the problem is that he doesn’t own a credit card. His mother stopped using her credit card anymore. He thought that having his own credit card would be the best actions so he went to a bank here in Batangas and apply for it. But due to several reasons, he didn’t make it. Haaaay.
There is another solution. It is to borrow someone’s credit card. Yup, he borrowed his auntie’s card, went to Godaddy.com and purchase his very first domain name – Rickspot.com. It is on his 9th month of blogging, he started to focus here as his new blogging home. Yahoo!
Rickspot is now doing those purposes that Jerick Mac has started. Echovolution’s portfolio + something about Batangas + “google trends blog :D” = Rickspot.com! And there’s more! Here on Rickspot, he started a serious Make Money Online campaign. (Ehem, serious???)
Although Jerick Mac doesn’t receive his first Google Adsense earning yet, he is confident that he will receive it soon. (At this time, it is already $96! Yey!) During those past 12 months, he really learned a lot. He realized a lot. He posted a lot. Hoped to earn a lot. To buy a house and lot. LOL!
And that was Jerick Mac’s blogging story. It’s me your narrator, signing off….
What?! Actually, words are not enough to explain and tell what happened to me during those times. I entered the blogosphere as a stranger. But now, check my blog roll and you will find some blogging friends I met in this world.

Alexis Cohen Found Dead, American Idol Season 8 Contestant

At this time, there has been no reported cause of death; an autopsy is scheduled for later today. Alexis Cohen's body was found by two pedestrians who then informed the police.

I Need a Laptop Computer
How much is a laptop computer nowadays? Well, it depends on the brand. Laptops that are manufactured and created by famous companies like Acer, Hewlett-Packard, Apple or Dell are more expensive in the market. Yes, those laptop computers are expensive but the quality is assured! By the way, Why do I need a laptop computer?
The first reason is that I want to change my old desktop PC. It is now too slow to hold and execute all commands I want it to do. Yay! We bought it as a secondhand computer last 2005, just imagine! And until now, that computer is still alive and carrying the burden I'm giving with no complain. (Burden = Autodesk Maya 2009, Adobe Flash CS4 and other graphical/animation tools! "Ouch!", my PC said.)
Second, since laptop computers are small, it is portable. I can bring it anytime, not anywhere. It consumes small amount of electricity too. Unlike my desktop PC, a new laptop computer runs silently. That's why I need a laptop computer. Also, Rick in my blog's logo is using a laptop, I'm jealous.

Craving to Have a Web Host for Wordpress
When I started blogging 1 year ago, investing for a reliable web host never comes in my mind. I am very much contented using a free blogging tool like Blogger/Blogspot until I noticed some of its weakness recently. It's too late.
My blog posts takes a very large amount of time to be indexed by Search Engines! And I hate it! I hate it! I hate it! Why? You know, if your specific blog post is not indexed, you cannot receive visitors driven by organic search. Without visitors, you cannot earn from Google Adsense. And without earning, you're not making money online.
That's why, at this time, I am really craving to have my own web host. With it, I can host a Wordpress blog and transfer this blog's blog posts into it. According to other experiences, adding SEO to a self-hosted Wordpress is more productive than Blogger/Blogspot. But I have a very big problem.

Giving Adult Education to My Relative
Adult education is the practice of teaching and educating adults. Despite of being older in age, some adults are still willing to learn a lot. Yes it's true! Let me share my latest experience.
Last Monday, my father's auntie called me by phone to inform me that she wants to learn how to use the computer and the Internet as well. What she want is an adult education. Hehehe. She don't have any experience of using a computer because she has her daughter to do it for her. But now, her daughter is now working in Manila.
Now, to be able to communicate with her son and daughters abroad, she need to pay someone to teach her how to do it. It was me! That's why, last Tuesday, I started teaching her the basic of computer usage. We are not discussing about the Internet yet because I want her to be familiarize with her laptop first.
Lessons I learned:
1. Making money online can sometimes cause stiff neck.
2. Making money "offline" can make your voice hoarse. LOL! Ehem ehem!

Malignant Mesothelioma Symptoms and Treatments
This post is about a disease called Mesothelioma. Are you familiar with it? If not, don't worry because I have here some information about a malignant Mesothelioma.
First of all, what is Mesothelioma? A popular encyclopedia explains that Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that is almost always caused by exposure to asbestos. In this disease, malignant cells develop in the mesothelium, a protective lining that covers most of the body's internal organs. Its most common site is the pleura (outer lining of the lungs and internal chest wall), but it may also occur in the peritoneum (the lining of the abdominal cavity), the heart, the pericardium (a sac that surrounds the heart) or tunica vaginalis.
Also, most people who develop mesothelioma have worked on jobs where they inhaled asbestos particles, or they have been exposed to asbestos dust and fiber in other ways.
Mesothelioma that affects the pleura can cause these 6 signs and symptoms:
1. Chest wall pain
2. Pleural effusion, or fluid surrounding the lung
3. Shortness of breath
4. Fatigue or anemia
5. Wheezing, hoarseness, or cough
6. Blood in the sputum (fluid) coughed up (hemoptysis)
Here are some Mesothelioma treatments that are commonly done:
1. Surgery
2. Radiation - For patients with localized disease, and who can tolerate a radical surgery, radiation is often given post-operatively as a consolidative treatment.
3. Chemotherapy - This is the only treatment for mesothelioma that has been proven to improve survival in randomised and controlled trials.
4. Immunotherapy - Treatment regimens involving immunotherapy have yielded variable results.
5. Heated Intraoperative Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy - This procedure was developed by Paul Sugarbaker at the Washington Cancer Institute.

My Biggest Blogging Mistake
This month is a special month for me. Why? For those who doesn't know, I entered the blogosphere last July 2008. Meaning, this month is my blogging anniversary! But I will not discuss about that anniversary matters because that topic deserves an article of its own. I'll post it later. This time, I will tell something about a mistake that I realize just recently. What is it?
Let's start with the famous quote "No blog is an island". Did you get it? Meaning, a blog, when it is alone, cannot successfully survive in the blogosphere. How can we say that a blog is alone?
A "lonely blog" doesn't pertain to the blog itself but to the owner of the blog. If a blogger is focused on article posting only and neglecting to socialize with other bloggers or blogs, we can consider him/her as a "lonely blog" while the blogger behind it is a "lonely blogger". Ouch! Actually, that is my biggest blogging mistake. :(
As I told you recently, I've been in the blogosphere for almost 1 year and unfortunately, I consider myself a ......... "lonely blogger". Yes, I am the lonely blogger behind a lonely blog. How come?
First, as stated above, I focused only on article writing and posting. After posting, it's now time to wait for blog visitors. Odd, isn't it? Well, that's what I do during my first year here in the blogosphere. Ouch! But someone encourage me to do something. Who is he?
He is the blogger behind Crisiboy.com, and his real name is Chris Astadan. (Thanks kuya Chris!) I already know about socializing, blog hoping and posting comments on other blogs before. I always stumble on that topic on every blogging e-book I read. But the problem is that I was too lazy to do that and I don't find time to do it. I thought that I can make it all alone, but I was wrong. I now understand how blog hoping and communicating to other bloggers will really help. What did I do?
Last time, I started a massive blog hopping, reading other articles, blog commenting and many more socialization methods I know! I have a goal of continuing it as long as my blog is alive. Now, what are the results?
I noticed the result at once. Other bloggers are now posting comments on my blog. It is a proof that somebody is reading my articles. Hehehe. Thanks to all of you! I know that there are still a lot of benefits to come, I'm just waiting for those.

Specifically, we made an account on 5euromails.com. 5euromails told us that every sponsor’s mail that we will receive on our email account will cost 5 Euros each. You need to click the sponsor’s link. When you click it, the sponsor’s website will open in a new window where you need to wait for at least 60 seconds before you close it. After 60 seconds, there will be a notification telling you that your account has been credited. Meaning, on that process, 5 Euros are added to your savings. So if you receive 3 sponsor’s mail per day, it is worth 15 Euros per day.
By the way, you cannot withdraw any amount at once. They have a minimum payout. In 5euromail’s case, their minimum payout is 3000 Euros. However, you can change your minimum payout to a lower amount by transferring your membership to a premium and it will cost money. Ouch!
Sending you an average of 3 sponsor’s mails per day which cost 15 Euros, you need to wait 200 days before reaching their minimum payout. But it is not always 3 sponsor’s mail per day. Sometimes, you will only receive 1 or 2 mails depending on their mood. Eek! And that’s how long I expected for my awaited scammed 3000 Euros. LOL!
As time goes by, I regularly check my savings in 5euromails and it shows that I have already made a glorious 2800 Euros! Thinking that the amount is true, I’m so happy and I can’t wait for my savings to reach the target payout. I though that my 3000 Euros is just around the corner. Wow! But the next day, a tragic event occurred
I called it tragedy because all of my stupid expectations just crashed. When I checked their URL again, their website is closed. It seems that they stopped renewing its domain registration. I begin shouting! “5euromails is a SCAM! It is a GPTR SCAM!”
So to those who are planning to enter these GPTR scheme, I am discouraging you from doing it. I don’t know if there is a real GPTR that will give you real money, but you should beware of those scams scattered all over here in the web.
Always remember that there is no instant money in the Internet unless you joined a trusted contest and won from it. Making money online is a job that you should put a lot of effort at first before seeing the results.
Once again, don’t be fool by those scam sites that pretends to be a real GPT that will give you a lot of money. Research and read some reviews first before entering and putting you money online. Learn from our experience and avoid GPTR Scams.

When making money online, setting your goal can ease your frustrations during the first months in blogging. Frustrations? Of course, you get frustrated every time you check your Adsense earning for a day and it says $0.00 or $0.10. What should you do?

SEO | 4 Killer Tips to Optimize Your Use of Images
Photos and images inside your blog/blog posts plays an important role. Aside from breaking up your article, it also makes your post more interesting and readable as stated in my previous post about that. But there is another truth behind images. You can optimize them for better SEO ranking. How? Here are some tips in optimizing you use of it.
1. In naming your images, use a brief but descriptive filenames and alt text.
Generic. You should really avoid using generic filenames. Don't use filenames like "image.jpg", "pic.gif", "Image999.png" or any related. Before uploading them on your web host or to any online directories, change the filename into something relevant to what the image really shows.
Aside form that, use a brief filename instead of lengthy one. You should also take advantage of the image "alt" attribute. It allows you to specify alternative text for the image if ever your browser can't load the picture for some reasons.
Check this example:
The content of the "alt" attribute provides information about the picture.
Output:
The image wasn't displayed for some reason, but at least the "alt" text was.
Note: Avoid stuffing a lot of irrelevant keywords into the "alt" text. (Don't spam.)
2. When using images as links, don't forget to supply the "alt" text.
In tip #1, we understand what an "alt" text is. Now, if you decide to use an image as a link, using the "alt" attribute again will help Search Engines understand more about the page you're linking to. Consider writing "alt" text for images as creating anchor text for a text link.
Note: Although images really looks good to our eyes, text links are still the best for SEO. Too much images can slow down the page load-time of your blog/website.
3. Store your images on a directory of their own.
Blogspot users doesn't have problems with this because Picasa web albums creates different albums for all of your blog. On the other hand, self-hosted Wordpress blogs has its own directory for anything that you upload.
Whatever the situation is, make it a habit to store images in its own directory.
4. Use commonly supported image filetypes.
If you want you images be viewed on most common browsers, you should always use the most common filetypes. It includes jpeg (Joint Photographic Experts Group), gif (Graphics Interchange Format), png (Portable Network Graphics) or bmp (Bitmap).
