We heard about this on the current news on the TV. I also read about this on this blog. Yes, it is about the future Universal Studios theme park in Seoul, South Korea. In short, is is called Universal Studios Korea Resort or simply USKR. More info after the jump.
Universal Studios South Korea (USKR) will be built in Hwaseong, a place in the province of Gyeonggi, South Korea. It is near the Incheon International Airport and has been allotted a budget of USD $3.1 billion. I guess, that would be a nice theme park there in South Korea. What can it give to the South Koreans?
Gyeonggi Governor Kim Moon-Soo estimates that Universal Studios South Korea could generate 2.9 trillion won (USD $3.2 billion) in foreign investment, 190 million won per year in tax revenues and 60,000 new jobs. Just imagine how much jobs it is.
Now, Samsung Everland Resort theme park in Yongin will surely face a though rival.
