SM City Batangas (Free WiFi) Internet Connection Speed

Last time, I brought my laptop inside SM City Batangas food court to check their internet connection speed. That was the first time that I brought my laptop into a mall. What did I notice regarding the free WiFi there?

First of all, I opened my Google Earth with "3D Buildings" enabled. As I open every city with 3D building around, I saw that all of those buildings are loaded so fast. It is really faster than our Internet connection at home. After being convinced that they have a mind-blowing free WiFi for shoppers, I decided to check the speed using an online tester. Below is the result. By the way, I have a list of WiFi hotspots in Batangas City.

My test result returned a 1.42 Mbps Download and 2.74 Mbps Upload speeds for SM City Batangas free WiFi connection. As the test shows, it will take 29 seconds to download a 5-Mb-size file like an MP3 file. On the other hand, 35Mb files will take 3 minutes to download while a movie which is more or less 800Mb can be downloaded for about 75 minutes. I know that their actual connection is faster that this. What can you say about that?
