UFC 125 free live stream

UFC 124 Free Live Stream: Frankie Edgar will try to start the New Year with a bang and a win that could cement his reputation as the top lightweight in the UFC when he stakes his title against Gray Maynard in UFC 125: Resolution on January 1, 2011, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Edgar-Maynard match is considered the main fight in the 11-match card. Edgar is a slight favorite to retain his title following back-to-back victories in 2010 against B.J. Penn, long considered among the best, if not the best, in the lightweight division. However, Maynard is no pushover, considering that the 31-year-old from Arizona has not lost a single MMA match, including eight-straight fights as a UFC fighter, although he won two of his last three wins via split decision. Another thing going for Maynard is the fact that he defeated Edgar when they first met in April 2008.

Another match to watch is the face-off between Chris Leben and Brian Stann in a middleweight clash that could well end up as the fight of the night. Stann is coming off his first submission victory in the UFC back in August, when he caught Mike Massenzio with a triangle choke. Leben, on the other hand, has racked up two-successive UFC victories after losing two in a row.

In the light-heavyweight division, Brandon Vera will try to arrest a two-match slide when he takes on Thiago Silva in what could turn out to be a muay Thai battle. Vera is in dire need of a win following a disappointing TKO loss to Jon Jones in March, but Silva is also raring to get back on track after a unanimous decision loss to Rashad Evans in UFC 108.

The two other main card matches will feature Nate Diaz against Dong Hyun Kim in a welterweight match and Clay Guida versus Takanori Gomi in a clash of lightweights.

Ex-Israeli President Katsav Found Guilty in Rape Case

Posted: 30 Dec 2010 09:41 AM PST

Moshe_KatsavFormer Israeli President Moshe Katsav could spend the last years of his life in jail after he was convicted on Thursday of raping twice one of his female aides when he was still a tourism minister in the late 1990s.

A three-judge panel found the 65-year-old former president guilty on two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and another one for sexual harassment. Court records show that Katsav raped a Tourism Ministry employee twice—at his office and at a hotel room—when he was still holding a Cabinet position in the 90s.

The other charges occurred during Katsav’s reign as president from 2000 to 2007. Katsav resigned his post after the charges were brought against him in 2007, but he was formally charged only last year.

In giving the verdict that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described as a proof of “the equality of all before the law,” the panel said that Katsav’s defense was “riddled with lies.” Katsav, who refused to speak after the verdict was read, could face up to 16 years in prison for the rape charges. Under Israeli law, rape carries a maximum penalty of 16 years.

New Year's Eve Party Times Square New York

New Year’s Eve Celebration Live Stream: People have gathered for a century in New York to ring in the New Year, and come Friday night, hordes of merrymakers will go into the streets of Times Square to party and watch the ball drop. But if you can't get to The Great White Way, live streaming of the year-end festivities are available on several websites such as TimesSquareNYC.org, Livestream.com/2011, TimesSquareBall.net and EarthCam.

You can also rock the New Year with TV party shows, from the classic tandem of Ryan Seacrest and Dick Clark on ABC to Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper on CNN. But It looks like NYC won't get to ring in 2011 by seeing Snooki drop from a massive ball. MTV's original plans had called for the 23-year-old Jersey Shore star to be placed inside the nearly 12,000-pound ball that would have been lowered in Times Square before the official countdown.

But fans of Ms. Nicole Polizzi need not worry. A similar scene will now reportedly be staged in New Jersey, where a giant ball with a lit “Snooki” sign has been unloaded in Seaside Heights, where season 1 and the upcoming season 3 of Jersey Shore were filmed.

Also, the Times Square Ball App (available for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and Android devices), will stream a live video feed of the celebration in New York, offering six-and-a-half hours of festivities with no commercial interruption. The application is free. And the good thing is, it has Twitter, Foursquare and Facebook integration. The app is designed to “put you in the middle of the legendary New Year’s Eve festivities in Times Square, no matter where you are in the world.”

Those heading to Times Square are reminded that no backpacks or alcohol is allowed and counter-snipers are stationed on secret rooftops, so please act accordingly.

Brett Favre Fined $50,000 in Jenn Sterger Controversy

Posted: 29 Dec 2010 11:47 PM PST

Jenn-StergerThe NFL gave Brett Favre a slap on the wrist for his failure to cooperate in the investigation regarding allegations that he sent sexually suggestive messages and explicit photographs of himself to former model and sports journalist Jenn Sterger.

In a statement, the league said Favre was slapped a $50,000 fine for not cooperating with the investigation. The statement added that the punishment, which according to a San Francisco Gate report was equivalent to a three-minutes’s pay for Favre, was justified because NFL commissioner Roger Goodell “could not conclude” that the legendary quarterback violated league rules. “The forensic analysis could not establish that Favre sent the objectionable photographs to Sterger,” the statement said. The league also said that the sole purpose of the investigation was to determine whether Favre violated the NFL’s personal conduct policy and not to judge the relationship then, if any, of the quarterback and Sterger.

The controversy stemmed from allegations that Favre, while playing for the New York Jets in 2008, sent lewd photographs and sexually charged messages to Sterger, who was then working for the team as a sideline reporter.
